In Motion
Grade 3.5
$1750
- Perpetual Motion (Glass' Symphony #3)
- Slow Motion (Chopin Raindrop Prelude)
- Fast-Forward (John Mackey's Kingfishers Catch Fire)
A total package of innovative design is waiting In Motion. Each segment of this show depicts a type of physical motion - both musically, and visually. The opening section portrays Perpetual Motion, using the minimalist music of the great Philip Glass, and drill devices that are continuously evolving. The middle Slow Motion portion echoes the repeated 8th-note motor rhythm of the opener, this time through Chopin's introspective Raindrop Prelude. As the climax of the piece approaches, the music stops and then utilizes only the front ensemble in a surprise effect moment of stop-time motion, visually and musically. In the closing number, John Mackey's brilliant Kingfishers Catch Fire provides the momentum for a whirlwind concluding study in Fast-Forward motion. The possibilities are endless when your band is set In Motion this year with Pulse Marching!
